Sexy Zebra Bucket

Sexy zebra bucket. I bet you didn't think you'd be hearing those words used together when you woke up this morning.

I've made a fair amount of black and white bags, either all black and white, or accented with red, or lime green. Each time I made one I would think "I wish someone would order one with hot pink." And I finally got my wish. A few weeks ago I took an order for a bag just like this one, but in black and white and hot pink. When I took the order, the delightful girl ordering asked if they had fabric in animal prints. I immediately thought she meant little dogs, or jungle creatures, or the like (I must be looking at too many novelty prints lately). I'm glad I didn't respond in kind with my thoughts, because she immediately qualified it with "Y'know--like zebra, leopard..." What a duh moment for me! I hope my facial expression didn't give anything away.... When she said zebra and pink I got irrationally giddy that I would finally get my wish. So without further ado--here it is:

The hot pink gives it just enough color to make it fun and stylish, but not so much that it's gaudy and obnoxious. The very bottom is done in the same pink fabric:

You don't really see the bottom, but I like that this little bit of fun contrast is there. The inside is standard--zippy pocket on one side, slip pockets on the other. I did the bottom of the lining in the zebra print to contrast--I think it's a fun little bit when you look inside the bag :)

This bag goes together so quickly and without any fuss at all. The original pattern (shared here for free) calls for a reversible design with no pockets and a button-loop closure. That's fine for a tote, but I really like this design for a handbag as well. It's deep enough that if you wanted to omit any closure at all it wouldn't be a problem, and would work up even quicker. Ooooooo I think you should try one!! Why are you still reading this??? GO! Hehehe. I'm going to go bang my head against the wall because the weekend is gone already.... Le sigh.

  3. That's great!!! Actually, sexy and zebra dó go together, I am a HUGE Aerosmith fan (you're going to unfollow me now, right??) and I have to admit... I have had a thing for Steven Tyler since well... forever. In the 80s (yesteryonder) he'd wear tight zebra printed jeans and pink hats all the time! Therefor, your bag should be baptise 'The Steven Bag', LOL!
Okay... back to normal now ;-)
