Super Easy Easter Crafts

I love holidays. They give me a chance to venture into different kinds of crafts, try out new ideas, and also to make things that might look weird if it didn't have a holiday to go along with it (like my Peeps banner--I'd have no problem keeping it up until July but other people might be all "Ummm...what's with that?").

The stuff I've got to show you did not spring from my brain at all. I doubt I would ever have thought of them, but I fell in love with them lickety-split. First up is a delicious spring wreath I saw on Capture the Details. I saw this on some linky party or another. I dashed off an email to my mumsy saying "Want this?" and she said "Sure!" so I wasted no time gathering my stuff. I had to put my own spin on it....

I used a 12-inch styrofoam ring, and needed 2 balls of Fun Fur in Lime to cover it totally. Wrapping it in the yarn was not the most fun thing ever...I Tom Sawyered my mom into doing it (y'know--"Whitewashing this fence is soooooo much fun!"). Actually, I said "Can you do this so I can get this handbag finished?" And of course she obliged. The daisy trim at my Joann's looked fairly dingy and was too small for my taste. Plus really pricey (for realz, Joann?), so I bought some artificial daisies and yanked them apart and pinned them on. When we were placing our Easter decorations last weekend, Mumsy whipped up some cute little bows and popped those on for an extra touch of color.

I love it. And it's surprisingly lightweight for a wreath. Which means it won't drag itself off the door due to its own weight.

Whilst browsing another linky party, I saw this great little cherry blossom tree at Sarahndipities. I saved some twigs from the dead branches my dad was cutting off a tree, and made my own version. I couldn't find the link until after I had made it (of course) so mine came out slightly different. Instead of cutting paper flowers I cut circles and bunched them up in the middle and stuck them on.

It should probably be fuller but I like the sparseness of it. The picture is kind of icky, but it really does look bright and pretty on the kitchen window sill. I love simple little things like this.

This project reminded me why I hate hot glue. Because it's hot. And I kept sticking my fingers into it. Then there's all those little glue strings that will just. not. come off.

This weekend was busy busy and I cannot believe it is Monday already. Me no likee. BUT I am super-dee-dooper excited that I have just a few custom orders left and then I can do whatever I want. Like sew me up some Bliss. I THINK I figured out what I'm going to do, but I have to check my math 67 more times to make sure it will work. Have a good one, lovelies!

  2. Lickety-split is an expression I've heard only once in a Tom Waits song only thing he sings it lickety-split-ly. But who can tell with that gruff voice?
I too have Tom Sawyered folks into doing stuff for me. It's the best skill I learnt in literature.
Crafting with plants sounds attractive but I know it's not something I would pick up. Mainly I don't like to use glue.
I wonder what you do with the items you've made once easter is over?
